Interpretation of radio afterglows in the framework of the standard fireball and energy injection models

D. Levine et al.

Summary: We tested the energy emission mechanism of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) using radio afterglow light curves and found that our data are largely incompatible with the standard fireball model, suggesting a potential problem with this model.

An analytic derivation of the empirical correlations of gamma-ray bursts

Fan Xu et al.

Summary: Empirical correlations between key parameters of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), such as the Amati relation and Yonetoku relation, have been extensively explored. Most GRBs follow these correlations well, but a theoretical interpretation is lacking. This study provides simple analytical derivations for the Amati and Yonetoku relations, and confirms their correctness through numerical simulations. The results reveal the intrinsic physics behind GRBs' radiation processes and emphasize the importance of viewing angles in empirical correlations.

Gamma-ray bursts, quasars, baryonic acoustic oscillations, and supernovae Ia: new statistical insights and cosmological constraints

G. Bargiacchi et al.

Summary: The recent tension observed in the value of H-0 between CMB and SNe Ia is a significant problem in astrophysics. To address this, we use GRBs and QSOs at intermediate redshifts along with BAO and SNe Ia. We investigate the Gaussianity assumption and find that only GRBs fulfill this assumption.

Radio-bright versus radio-dark gamma-ray bursts - more evidence for distinct progenitors

Angana Chakraborty et al.

Summary: We analyzed two distinct samples of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), one with radio afterglow emission and one without. Using an updated sample of 211 GRBs, we found that the intrinsic gamma-ray duration (T-int) and isotropic equivalent energy (E-iso) distributions differ significantly between the two populations. We also observed a statistically significant anticorrelation between the jet opening angle and redshift, as well as between T-int and redshift, for both radio-bright and radio-dark GRBs.

Pseudo-redshifts of Gamma-Ray Bursts Derived from the L-T-E Correlation

Chen Deng et al.

Summary: The X-ray afterglow of many gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) exhibits a plateau phase before the normal power-law decay stage, which may be related to continued activities of the central engine. Tang et al. collected 174 such GRBs and confirmed the L-T-E correlation involving three key parameters. The correlation is updated and then applied to derive the pseudo-redshift of other 130 plateau GRBs.

Summary: By combining high-redshift probes such as GRBs and QSOs with other observational data, it is shown that alternative cosmological models could potentially explain the discrepancy in the Hubble constant. Constraints on the Cosmological Parameters with Three-Parameter Correlation of Gamma-Ray Bursts

Jia-Lun Li et al.

Summary: Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are energetic events that can be used to explore the high-redshift universe. We find correlations between plateau luminosity, end time of plateau, and isotropic energy release in GRB samples. These correlations can be used to constrain cosmological parameters and serve as standard candles. Using different combinations of optical and X-ray samples, we obtain different constraints for flat and non-flat Lambda CDM models.

Shulei Cao et al.

Summary: We use various data sets, including supernova, baryon acoustic oscillation, quasar, and gamma-ray burst data, to constrain cosmological parameters and provide model-independent determinations of the Hubble constant and the current nonrelativistic matter density parameter. Our analysis shows consistent constraints and suggests evidence for dark energy dynamics. Our results are compared to other models and data, showing mild evidence for nonflat spatial hypersurfaces.

The gamma-ray bursts fundamental plane correlation as a cosmological tool

M. G. Dainotti et al.

Summary: Currently, there is a debate about cosmological models and their corresponding parameters due to the discrepancy between H-0 obtained from SNe Ia and the Planck data. Considering high redshift probes like gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) is necessary but challenging due to the large range of GRB luminosities. In this study, we use the 3D Dainotti fundamental plane relation to infer cosmological parameters, and by considering selection and evolutionary effects, we obtain a lower intrinsic scatter compared to previous results. Our analysis, using GRB correlations and complemented with SNe Ia and BAO measurements, confirms the parameters of the Lambda cold dark matter model but with the advantage of using probes detected up to z = 5.

Standardized Long Gamma-Ray Bursts as a Cosmic Distance Indicator

F. Y. Wang et al.

Summary: This study finds a tight correlation between the X-ray plateau luminosity and the end time of the plateau in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), and standardizes the behavior of GRB X-ray light curves through this correlation. The distance-redshift relation of GRBs is consistent with the standard CDM model, and there is statistical evidence for an accelerating universe from this GRB sample.

Examining Two-dimensional Luminosity-Time Correlations for Gamma-Ray Burst Radio Afterglows with VLA and ALMA

Summary: We study 404 GRBs with observed radio afterglow and find that 18 of them present a break feature resembling a plateau. We conduct the first multiwavelength study and conclude that there is a correlation between luminosity and break time in radio wavelengths. We also find that the break times in radio are significantly later compared to X-ray and optical data.

Standardizing Platinum Dainotti-correlated gamma-ray bursts, and using them with standardized Amati-correlated gamma-ray bursts to constrain cosmological model parameters

Summary: The study shows that the Platinum gamma-ray burst (GRB) data compilation follows a cosmological-model-independent correlation and can be standardized. Combining the data with others can improve the precision of cosmological constraints based on GRBs. By excluding common GRBs and jointly analyzing the data, more restrictive GRB-only cosmological constraints can be obtained.

The First Short GRB Millimeter Afterglow: The Wide-angled Jet of the Extremely Energetic SGRB 211106A

Summary: We report the discovery of the first millimeter afterglow of a short-duration gamma-ray burst (SGRB) and confirm its localization using the GUANO system on Swift. The ALMA detection of SGRB 211106A reveals its origin in a faint host galaxy with high extinction along the line of sight. The millimeter light curve captures the synchrotron peak and reveals a jet break at 29.2 days. We find that energetic outflows in high-density environments are more likely to have detectable millimeter counterparts.

Summary: Cosmological probes, such as gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), and baryon acoustic oscillations (BAOs), are used to evaluate the Hubble constant and matter density. By fully considering the contribution of GRBs in the final redshift bin, the measurement precision is significantly improved.
