Identification and analytical characterization of N-propyl norbutylone, N-butyl norbutylone, N-benzyl norheptedrone, and N-pyrrolidinyl-3,4-DMA

Cui-Mei Liu et al.

Summary: This study presents the analytical characterization of three cathinones and one N-pyrrolidinyl-substituted amphetamine derivative. Various analytical techniques, such as UHPLC-QTOF-MS, GC-Orbitrap-MS, NMR, and FT-IR, were employed for identification and structure elucidation. The study also examined the CID, EI, and EAD pathways of these compounds, and applied qNMR for quantitative analysis. This is the first report on compounds 3 and 4, providing valuable insights for forensic laboratories in analyzing similar new psychoactive substances (NPS).

Electron Impact Excitation of Ions from Organics on Singly Protonated Peptides with and without Post-Translational Modifications

Takashi Baba et al.

Summary: This study reports on the dissociation of singly protonated peptides using electron-activated dissociation (EAD). Two pathways, vibrational dissociation and radical-induced dissociation, were identified. The fast EAD device allows for additional molecular information and localization of modification groups.

2C-B-Fly-NBOMe Metabolites in Rat Urine, Human Liver Microsomes and C. elegans: Confirmation with Synthesized Analytical Standards

Jitka Nykodemova et al.

Summary: Compounds from the NBPEA class are increasingly used in research and for recreational purposes. This study investigated the metabolism of 2C-B-Fly-NBOMe in different systems and identified a total of 35 phase I and 9 phase II metabolites. The major metabolic pathways included hydroxylation, demethylation, debromination, and benzyl group modification, with differences observed in the three media used for the study.

An updated review on synthetic cathinones

Jorge Soares et al.

Summary: Synthetic cathinones, derivatives of naturally occurring cathinone, have become increasingly popular in the recreational drug market since the late 2000s, posing risks to public health. Studies revealing the pharmacological and toxicological properties of synthetic cathinones are crucial for providing expertise to clinicians facing this issue.
