A potential nonlinear optical material for crown-porphyrin complexes: Alkali metal doping and transition metal introducing

Wen-bo Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the regulation of nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of crown ether derivatives by doping alkali metals and introducing transition metals. The results show that the complex with alkali metal doping has a remarkable first hyperpolarizability, while the complex with transition metal introduction exhibits no significant change in NLO response. Moreover, the combination of alkali metal and transition metal results in a significant enhancement of NLO characteristics.

Assembling of Perylene, Naphthalene, and Pyromellitic Diimide-Based Materials and Their Third-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties

Li Wang et al.

Summary: Pi-conjugated aromatic diimides with chemical stability, heat resistance, and redox activity have excellent fluorescence quantum yield. The cyclic trimers based on PMDIs, NDIs, and PDIs show enhanced fluorescence quantum yield and large two-photon absorption cross section, making them promising nonlinear optical materials. This study investigates the effects of different assembly modes of the three monomers on the NLO responses of materials. The assembly modes of 2PMDI-1NDI and 2NDI-1PDI exhibit larger third-order NLO response values and redshifts in the absorption spectrum, indicating improved intramolecular charge transfer and NLO properties.

The organic co-crystals formed using naphthalenediimide-based triangular macrocycles and coronene: intermolecular charge transfers and nonlinear optical properties

Li Wang et al.

Summary: The formation of organic co-crystals is an effective strategy to synthesize near infrared emission and nonlinear optical materials. By regulating the intermolecular interaction energy and charge transfer degree, the NLO properties of co-crystals can be further improved.

Synthesis and the spectral, electrochemical, and nonlinear optical properties of β-dicyanovinyl-appended 'push-pull' porphyrins

Renu K. Rohal et al.

Summary: A series of push-pull porphyrins with triphenylamine (TPA) and dicyanovinyl (DCN) groups were synthesized and characterized. These porphyrins showed enhanced resonance and improved nonlinearity compared to the corresponding porphyrins. The nonlinearity of these push-pull porphyrins makes them potential candidates for nonlinear optical and photonic device applications.

Structural parameters versus third-order optical susceptibility of zinc porphyrin molecules

Amina Yasin et al.

Summary: The study found that zinc porphyrins with less π-electron conjugation exhibit higher third-order nonlinear optical characteristics, such as Por-C-12-RA(1) showing higher third-order NLO parameters than conventional zinc phthalocyanine and other studied porphyrins.

The shape selectivity of corannulene dimers based on concave-convex and convex-convex shape complementarity as hosts for C60 and C70

Li Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different stacking modes between corannulene and fullerene on the stability and NLO properties of the composite materials. The concave-convex interaction was found to be stronger, stabilizing the CT complex more effectively, while the convex-convex interaction was more likely to cause intermolecular CT. The packing design with double convex-convex interactions exhibited the largest linear optical response and third-order NLO response.
