Snapshots of a light-induced metastable hidden phase driven by the collapse of charge order

Frank Y. Gao et al.

Summary: Studying nonequilibrium hidden states is important for understanding the strong coupling between microscopic degrees of freedom in quantum materials and for the development of optoelectronic devices. Using single-shot spectroscopy techniques, the researchers were able to directly visualize the ultrafast formation of a long-lived hidden phase in the electronic crystal 1T-TaS2. They also proposed a theory of fluctuation-dominated process to explain the nature of the metastable state.

Superconductivity and Charge Density Wave in Iodine-Doped CuIr2Te4

Mebrouka Boubeche et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the evolution of structural and physical properties, particularly the charge density wave (CDW) and superconductivity, of polycrystalline CuIr2Te4-xIx within the range of 0.0 <= x <= 1.0. It is found that the superconducting transition temperature Tc increases with higher x, reaching a maximum value at CuIr2Te1.9I0.1 before slightly decreasing with higher iodine doping. The results suggest that CuIr2Te4-xIx bulks exhibit type-II superconductivity, and pave the way for further exploration of the interplay between CDW and superconductivity in this system.

Summary: This passage discusses the importance and formation mechanisms of metastable self-organized electronic states in quantum materials, as well as how mapping out a temporal phase diagram can help understand and compare the changes in metastable states produced on different timescales.
