Essential oil composition and biological activities of Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis Miller) needles collected from different Tunisian regions

Summary: This research aimed to investigate the variation in the chemical composition and biological activities of P. halepensis needle essential oils. The study found significant variability among the different oils, with caryophyllene, phenyl isovalerate, beta-myrcene, and alpha-pinene being the main identified compounds. It was also demonstrated that the oil from Tabouba exhibited the highest antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and alpha-glucosidase inhibition activities.

Summary: This study analyzed the chemical composition and evaluated the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and phytotoxic properties of the essential oils from Eucalyptus falcata, E. sideroxylon, and E. citriodora in Tunisia. The essential oils exhibited significant antioxidant activity and potential as natural pesticides. They also showed efficacy in inhibiting weed germination and growth, as well as moderate fungitoxic properties against various fungal strains.

Chemical Composition of Essential Oils from Eight Tunisian Eucalyptus Species and Their Antifungal and Herbicidal Activities

Summary: This study aimed to determine the chemical composition of essential oils (EOs) derived from eight Eucalyptus species in Tunisia and investigate their potential antifungal and herbicidal activities. The results showed that all EOs exhibited significant antifungal activity against four phytopathogenic Fusarium strains. Among them, E. cladocalyx EO showed the highest level of antifungal activity and had the greatest inhibition of seed germination even at the lowest concentrations used.
