Overexpression of Soybean GmWRI1a Stably Increases the Seed Oil Content in Soybean

Zhikun Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, GmWRI1a was successfully overexpressed and contributed to a stable increase in seed oil content in soybean. The transgenic plants exhibited significant upregulation of GmWRI1a and bar genes at different developmental stages. Transcriptome sequencing analysis revealed distinct differences in gene expression between the transgenic lines and the wild type. The field trial demonstrated that the transgenic lines had a consistent increase in seed oil content without affecting protein content and yield. Overexpression of GmWRI1a altered the fatty acid composition by increasing linoleic acid content and decreasing palmitic acid content in seeds.

Role of Glycine max ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 3(GmABI3) in lipid biosynthesis and stress tolerance in soybean

Sehrish Manan et al.

Summary: The study found that the GmABI3 gene is responsible for seed-specific TAG and long-chain fatty acid biosynthesis in soybean, playing an important role in improving soybean oil production. Additionally, GmABI3 can regulate stress tolerance in soybean, providing insights for other crops to deal with biological stresses.
