Vanadium extraction from water-cooled vanadium converter slag via salt-free roasting and acid leaching

Jiancheng Yu et al.

Summary: A clean process for vanadium extraction from water-cooled vanadium converter slag (VCS) is proposed, which includes sieving, salt-free roasting, and sulfuric acid leaching. Mechanistic analysis shows that the roasting temperature affects the oxidation process of vanadium. Systematic leaching experiments demonstrate high leaching yields for vanadium, calcium, manganese, and magnesium, while the leaching residue can be used as raw material for iron production.

Chromium and iron recovery from hazardous extracted vanadium tailings via direct reduction magnetic separation

Jianfa Jing et al.

Summary: A technique was proposed for recovering Fe and Cr from extracted vanadium tailings and removing Na through direct reduction followed by magnetic separation. Experimental results showed that when Ca(OH)2 addition was added at a rate of 30% and the reduction temperature was maintained at 1350 degrees C for 2 hours, Fe-Cr alloys were formed and could be separated by magnetic separation. The addition of Ca(OH)2 greatly facilitated the reduction process and resulted in the formation of Fe-Cr alloy, while sodium metal was volatilized. The simultaneous method has a significant impact on removing valuable metals and reducing the environmental risk of the extracted vanadium tailings.

Structural evolution of arsenopyrite and dearsenification by mechanical activation

Yajing Chen et al.

Summary: Mechanical activation was found to enhance the dearsenification efficiency of arsenopyrite by reducing particle size and increasing specific surface area. Additionally, the improved dearsenification was attributed to the reduced lattice volume and grain size, as well as the decreased crystallinity and increased lattice distortion rate. Leaching activity was related to increased microstrain along certain axes and larger interplanar distance, facilitating dearsenification.
