Distant metastasis and prognostic factors in patients with invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast

Xiaofei Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the risk factors and prognostic factors of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and predict the survival of IDC patients with metastasis. Risk factors included age, race, marital status, income, geographic region, grade, T stage, N stage, subtype, surgery, and radiotherapy, while prognostic factors included age, race, marital status, income, geographic region, grade, T stage, N stage, subtype, surgery, and chemotherapy. A nomogram was established with a C-index of 0.701, showing good consistency between actual observation and prediction. Survival curves varied significantly among different metastatic patterns.

PEAK1 promotes invasion and metastasis and confers drug resistance in breast cancer

Xingang Wang et al.

Summary: PEAK1 is upregulated in breast cancer tissues and high expression is associated with tumor size, grade, stage, lymph node metastasis, recurrence, Ki-67 and Her-2 expression, and chemotherapy resistance. Inhibiting PEAK1 reduces cell growth, invasion, metastasis, and reverses chemoresistance to doxorubicin in breast cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo. Targeting PEAK1 could be an effective treatment strategy for breast cancer.

Phytochemical Targeting of Mitochondria for Breast Cancer Chemoprevention, Therapy, and Sensitization

Elizabeth R. M. Zunica et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is a common and deadly disease, with better prognosis for early-stage and less aggressive subtypes. However, aggressive subtypes have limited treatment options and responses, leading to decreased survival. Phytochemicals, with chemopreventive, therapeutic, and sensitizing properties, have the potential for treatment, management, and prevention of breast cancer. Targeting mitochondria, phytochemicals can enhance anti-breast cancer efficacy.

Predicting the risk of axillary lymph node metastasis in early breast cancer patients based on ultrasonographic-clinicopathologic features and the use of nomograms: a prospective single-center observational study

Wengcheng Fong et al.

Summary: This study aimed to establish two preoperative nomograms based on ultrasonographic-clinicopathologic features to evaluate the risk of axillary lymph node metastasis in early breast cancer patients. The nomograms accurately predicted the presence or absence of ALN metastasis and the number of metastatic ALNs, providing useful tools for clinicians to predict the risk of ALN metastasis and guide therapy decision-making.

Tumor Budding is a reliable predictor for death and metastasis in invasive ductal breast cancer and correlates with other prognostic clinicopathological parameters

Oguzhan Okcu et al.

Summary: The study found that high tumor budding in breast invasive ductal carcinoma cases is associated with low survival time, metastasis, axillary lymph node metastasis, angiolymphatic invasion, advanced stage, high proliferation index, progesterone receptor loss, and advanced age. Tumor budding is identified as an independent risk factor in breast carcinomas.

Mitochondria-related core genes and TF-miRNA-hub mrDEGs network in breast cancer

Li-Rong Yan et al.

Summary: Mitochondria-nuclear cross-talk and mitochondrial retrograde regulation play crucial roles in the genesis and development of breast cancer. This study identified and validated differentially expressed genes related to mitochondria in BC cell lines and tissues, and constructed a regulatory network involving transcription factors, microRNAs, and hub genes. The findings suggest that hub genes such as FN1 and DDR2 may serve as novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for BC.

Nuclear Dynamics and Chromatin Structure: Implications for Pancreatic Cancer

Luis F. Flores et al.

Summary: Changes in nuclear shape are closely linked to the dynamics and functionality of cancer cells, particularly in pancreatic cancer. They not only serve as a gold standard for tumor staging and grading, but also have profound implications for cellular responses to physical strain, adaptation during migration, chromatin organization, and gene expression in cancer biology.

A Bioinformatics Study of the Involved Mechanisms in Relapse and Drug Resistance of Tamoxifen-Treated Breast Cancer

Masoud Keikha et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is a common cause of mortality in women, and tamoxifen has been effective in increasing survival rates and reducing relapse cases as a first-line treatment. Nonetheless, approximately one-third of patients exhibit resistance and relapse to tamoxifen, suggesting multifactorial mechanisms at play.

Differences in clinicopathological characteristics, treatment, and survival outcomes between older and younger breast cancer patients

Hikmat Abdel-Razeq et al.

Summary: In developing countries, younger patients with breast cancer showed more aggressive pathological features compared to older patients, but had a better overall survival rate. There was no significant difference in disease-free survival between the two groups, indicating that older women were more likely to die from non-cancer related causes.
