Two copper(II) compounds derived from tetrazole carboxylates for chemodynamic therapy against hepatocellular carcinoma cells

Xinya Shi et al.

Summary: Two Cu(II) compounds based on tetrazole-carboxylate ligands were designed and synthesized. Nanoprecipitation with DSPE-PEG-(2000) contributed to the formation of nanoparticles (NPs) with excellent water dispersity. In vitro study showed that the NPs exerted considerable cytotoxicity towards human hepatocellular carcinoma cells, while their cytotoxicity in normal cells was negligible. Flow cytometry and live/dead staining experiments confirmed these results, suggesting great potential of these NPs for chemodynamic therapy against cancer cells.

Multifaceted Chemistry of Tetrazole. Synthesis, Uses, and Pharmaceutical Applications

R. K. Uppadhayay et al.

Summary: Scientists and researchers are interested in the diverse biological applications of tetrazoles due to their unique chemistry. Tetrazoles have nonclassical bioisosteres of carboxylic acids and possess both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing properties. Their planar structure allows for better receptor-ligand interactions and their solubility in lipids makes them more effective in penetrating cell membranes. Tetrazoles have a range of biological activities and can be synthesized using different approaches. The review also discusses other applications of tetrazoles and their physical and chemical properties.

The 115 Years Old Multicomponent Bargellini Reaction: Perspectives and New Applications

Marta Serafini et al.

Summary: Despite its uniqueness, the Bargellini multicomponent reaction is not well known among chemists due to lack of coverage in classic organic chemistry literature. However, research on this reaction has been conducted over several years, with many studies published in Italian between 1929 and 1966. This review article extensively covers the most important applications of the Bargellini reaction reported to date in chronological order, aiming to aid chemists in utilizing this multicomponent transformation effectively and inspiring novel reactivities.

In Vitro Evaluation of Antiproliferative Properties of Novel Organotin(IV) Carboxylate Compounds with Propanoic Acid Derivatives on a Panel of Human Cancer Cell Lines

Nebojsa D. Pantelic et al.

Summary: The synthesis of novel triphenyltin(IV) compounds with oxaprozin and new propanoic acid derivatives has been characterized, showing these organotin(IV) carboxylates to have very good antiproliferative activity against various cancer cell lines. Among them, complex Ph(3)SnL1 exhibited the highest cytotoxicity against the caspase 3 deficient MCF-7 cell line. Mechanistic studies suggest that it induces caspase-independent apoptosis in MCF-7 cells.
