Turn-off detection of Cr(III) with chelation enhanced fluorescence quenching effect by a naphthyl hydrazone Shiff base chemosensor

Brian Musikavanhu et al.

Summary: A one-step synthesis of a thiophene substituted naphthyl hydrazone derivative NHT was developed for the detection of trivalent chromium. The probe exhibited a turn-off response and formed a 1:1 NHT-Cr3+ complex upon exposure to Cr3+. NHT showed a fast response rate and low detection limit, with excellent selectivity and affinity towards Cr3+. Bioimaging experiments in PC3 cells demonstrated the potential real-life application of this probe in detecting Cr3+.

Reduced graphene oxide-zinc sulfide (RGO-ZnS) nanocomposite: a new photocatalyst for oxidative cyclization of benzylamines to benzazoles under visible-light irradiation

Mona Hosseini-Sarvari et al.

Summary: A simple route for preparing RGO-ZnS nanocomposite was reported via one-pot hydrothermal synthesis. The chemical composition, morphology, and structure of the catalyst were characterized, and its photocatalytic applications were explored for the synthesis of benzazoles. The results showed that the addition of RGO enhanced the photocatalytic properties of pure ZnS. The RGO-ZnS composite was demonstrated to be an efficient photocatalyst for the synthesis of benzazoles under room temperature, visible light irradiation, and acid/oxidant-free conditions.

Aggregation induced emission properties of cruciform-type conjugated pyrazine molecules with four pendent donor groups

Puttavva Meti et al.

Summary: In this study, three D-A type cruciform conjugate chromophores were designed and synthesized, showing different emission behaviors in their aggregated states. The differences in their photophysical properties are mainly attributed to the substituent effects, closely related to the restriction of intramolecular rotation mechanism.
