Effect of Application of Biostimulants on the Biomass, Nitrate, Pigments, and Antioxidants Content in Radish and Turnip Microgreens

Stefania Toscano et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of commercial and natural biostimulants on the yield and nutraceutical properties of turnip greens and radish microgreens were investigated. The results showed that biostimulants promoted biomass accumulation in radish but not in turnip greens. Biostimulants also led to higher chlorophyll a content, lower nitrate content, and increased total phenolic content and antioxidant activity in radish microgreens.

Effect of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen peroxide on growth, yield and nutrient content of broccoli plants grown under saline conditions

Osama Abd El -Salam Shalaby et al.

Summary: Salt stress is a damaging abiotic stress that is expected to worsen in arid and semi-arid regions under climate change, affecting plant production and crop yields. This study demonstrates that foliar application of H2O2 and H2S can effectively mitigate the adverse effects of salt stress on broccoli growth and yield.

Salt ions mediated changes in biochemical and anatomical characteristics of Brassica napus can be countered with Moringa Leaf extract

Noreen Akhter et al.

Summary: The role of exogenous application of moringa leaf extract (MLE) in alleviating the effects of salinity on physiological, biochemical and anatomical parameters of two canola varieties was evaluated. The results showed that MLE improved the growth and antioxidant capacity of the plants under salinity stress. Additionally, MLE application also enhanced the anatomical characteristics of the leaves and stems in both varieties.

Can Moringa Leaf Spray Treatment Increase the Nutraceutical Properties of Radish Baby Leaf?

Daniela Romano et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of applying Moringa oleifera leaf extract (MLE) on radish seedlings was investigated. The results showed that MLE treatment had a significant positive impact, including increasing biomass and leaf area, improving photosynthetic efficiency and chlorophyll content, and enhancing antioxidant capacity and ascorbic acid content. However, there were no significant effects on nitrate and total sugar content. Further research is needed to determine the optimal doses and treatment modalities to improve the characteristics of radish baby leaf.

Morpho-Physiological and Anatomical Alterations of Salt-Affected Thompson Seedless Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) to Brassinolide Spraying

Mostafa F. El-Banna et al.

Summary: Brassinosteroids, particularly brassinolide, have the potential to improve the salt tolerance of grapevine seedlings. They enhance plant performance under salt stress by maintaining higher levels of photosynthetic pigments, regulating ion balance, controlling water status, and promoting antioxidant capacity as well as preserving leaf anatomy.

Effects of water and salinity stresses on growth, yield, and water use of iceberg lettuce

Ahmet Kurunc

Summary: The response of lettuce to water deficit and salinity stress varied significantly. Results showed that there was a sharp increase in lettuce fresh yield and plant water consumption up to a soil salinity of 2.17 dS m(-1), followed by a slight decrease. A new model was proposed to capture the increase and decrease in fresh yield. The optimal salinity level for iceberg lettuce was found to be 1.84 dS m(-1), with relative yield decreases of 8.26% and 22.7% per unit salinity increase above and below this level.
