Morphological variability of the plantaris muscle origin in human fetuses

Anna Wasniewska et al.

Summary: The study identified six types of origin of plantaris muscle in human fetuses, with the most common being type Ia, characterized by an attachment to the lateral head of gastrocnemius muscle, lateral femoral condyle, and knee joint capsule.

A Biomechanical Analysis of Peroneus Brevis Split Lesions, Repair, and Partial Resection

Tudor Trache et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the biomechanical changes induced by peroneus brevis tendon tears and different surgical treatments. The results show that longitudinal split and 50% resection of the tendon lead to elongation and loss of stiffness, while tubularizing suture can improve these issues. However, further investigation is needed to determine the clinical significance of these changes.

Morphological variability of the plantaris tendon in the human fetus

Anna Wasniewska-Wlodarczyk et al.

Summary: This study investigated the morphological variation of the PM tendon in human fetuses, finding that the PM was present in 78.26% of lower limbs with eight types of distal attachment identified. The study proposes an eight-fold classification of PM insertion in fetuses, highlighting significant differences in leg length, tendon length, extension point (ExP) from the calcaneus, and ExP thickness among the types.
