MOF-derived Co3O4 hierarchical porous structure for enhanced acetone sensing performance with high sensitivity and low detection limit

Rong Guo et al.

Summary: Co3O4-x hierarchical porous structure was successfully prepared by using MOF as a sacrificial template through solvothermal method and subsequent heat treatment. The effect of different cobalt sources on the morphology, structure, and gas-sensing properties of Co3O4-x samples were investigated. The findings showed that Co3O4-2 sensor exhibited significantly higher response and superior selectivity, repeatability, and long-term stability compared to Co3O4-0.

A bottom-up sonication-assisted synthesis of Zn-BTC MOF nanosheets and the ppb-level acetone detection of their derived ZnO nanosheets

Bingsheng Du et al.

Summary: A uniform two-dimensional Zn-BTC MOF nanosheet with a thickness of 14 +/- 2 nm was synthesized through a simple, efficient, and scalable sonication-assisted bottom-up strategy. The morphology of Zn-BTC MOFs can be modulated from nanosheets to nanorods by changing the content of H3BTC. A chemiresistive gas sensor based on Zn-BTC nanosheet derivatives demonstrated promising potential in detecting ppb-level acetone.

V. L. Patil et al.

Summary: The study investigated a highly sensitive and selective NO2 gas sensor based on Gallium (Ga) doped ZnO (GZO) nanorods, which were synthesized using a simple and low-cost reflux method. Analysis using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy revealed the doping characteristics and properties of the undoped ZnO and GZO nanorods. The GZO nanorods exhibited a gas sensitivity of approximately 1987% for 100 ppm NO2 gas at an operating temperature of 175 degrees C.

Flower-like ZnO-Co3O4 heterojunction composites for enhanced acetone sensing

Liupeng Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, a ZnO-Co3O4 heterostructure was successfully prepared on a nanosheet hollow sphere structure. The fabricated sensor using 3 at% ZnO-Co3O4 hollow composite showed enhanced acetone sensing performance at a low operating temperature, which was about 5.1 times higher than that of Co3O4-based sensor. Additionally, the ZnO-Co3O4 based sensor exhibited a ppb-level detection limit. The improved sensitivity and lower detection limit of the sensor can be attributed to the formation of n-p heterojunctions, which reduces the degree of band bending and surface hole concentration.
