Simulation of CH3OH ice UV photolysis under laboratory conditions

W. R. M. Rocha et al.

Summary: This study aims to achieve quantitative agreement between laboratory experiments and astrochemical modelling of UV photolysis of methanol ice. The results show that the destruction of methanol ice via UV photodissociation can be reproduced at different temperatures by adjusting surface chemistry parameters. It is also found that the branching ratios and reactive desorption mechanisms have a significant impact on the results.

Sublimation of Laboratory Ices Millimeter/Submillimeter Experiment (SubLIME): Structure-specific Identifications of Products from UV-photolyzed Methanol Ice

K. M. Yocum et al.

Summary: Submillimeter/far-IR spectroscopy was used to detect and quantify organic molecules sublimated from methanol ice after ultraviolet photolysis and warm-up. A total of eleven sublimated photoproducts were identified, with additional products detected by FTIR spectroscopy. Rotational temperatures and gas densities were calculated for organics with multiple C atoms, and abundance ratios were compared with observations in different astronomical objects.

The TW Hya Rosetta Stone Project. II. Spatially Resolved Emission of Formaldehyde Hints at Low-temperature Gas-phase Formation

Summary: This study presents spatially resolved observations of multiple ortho- and para-H2CO transitions in the TW Hya protoplanetary disk, suggesting that gas-phase formation may be responsible for the observed H2CO across the disk.
