Argon flow rate effects on the optical waveguide properties of DC sputtered TiO2 thin films

Hacene Serrar et al.

Summary: TiO2 thin films were prepared by DC sputtering with pure titanium target in mixed gases plasma. The crystallinity of the thin films improved with increasing Argon flow rate up to 45 sccm and then deteriorated sharply at 60 sccm. The AFM analysis showed an increase in roughness and grain size with an enlargement from sharp needles like shape to dome like shape.

Gas Sensors Based on Titanium Oxides (Review)

Simonas Ramanavicius et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the application of nanostructured titanium compounds in gas sensor design, with particular attention to the various modifications of titanium oxides and their suitability for sensor design. It discusses the potential applications of non-stoichiometric titanium oxide and Magneli phase-based layers in gas sensors. The review also highlights the development of synthesis strategies for titanium dioxide and conducting polymer-based composite materials, and their specific application areas. Furthermore, it addresses the tunability of sensitivity and selectivity in titanium compound-based sensing layers. The review provides an overview of recent developments in sensors based on titanium oxides and outlines designs of titanium-based nanomaterials for sensor development.

Ethanol-sensing properties of cobalt porphyrin-functionalized titanium dioxide nanoparticles as chemiresistive materials that are integrated into a low power microheater

Kwanhun Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles functionalized with cobalt porphyrin (CoPP) were used as resistive ethanol-sensing materials. The sensor showed high sensitivity and reliable response to ethanol, and was able to detect ethanol at different concentrations through charge transfer. Compared to other TiO2-based ethanol sensors, this sensor is promising for portable and distributed monitoring of gaseous ethanol due to its low power consumption and high sensitivity.
