Effect of nano-SiO2 on fiber-matrix bond in ultra-high-performance concrete as partial substitution of silica flour

Taekgeun Oh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of nano-SiO2 on the bond behavior of straight steel fibers in ultra-high-performance concrete. The packing density increased with the nano-SiO2 content up to 15%, but decreased thereafter. The static bond performance and pullout resistance of steel fibers were improved by adding nano-SiO2, with the best results observed at 10%-15% content.

Adsorption kinetics of the photocatalytic reaction of nano-TiO2 cement-based materials: A review

Zong-Ming Jia et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the photocatalytic reaction mechanism and adsorption kinetics of nano-TiO2 cement-based materials. The effects of environmental factors on the photocatalytic reaction of nano-TiO2 cement-based materials are analyzed, and effective ways to improve the photocatalytic performance are proposed. Finally, a comparative analysis of various types of photocatalytic adsorption kinetic models is carried out to provide references for establishing models with wider applicability in engineering.

NOx removal ability of photocatalytic cement-based materials with porous structure

Junjie Zhang et al.

Summary: This study enhances the photocatalytic performance of photocatalytic cement-based materials (PCM) by designing a porous structure. Increasing the total porosity of PCM activates the photocatalytic activity of nano-TiO2 and enhances the adsorption capacity for pollutants, promoting the full occurrence of photocatalytic reactions.

Benefits of TiO2 photocatalyst on mechanical properties and nitrogen oxide removal of ultra-high-performance concrete

Hong-Joon Choi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a novel type of ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) with excellent mechanical properties and nitrogen oxide (NOx) removal capability. By replacing inert filler silica flour with photocatalyst titanium dioxide (TiO2), the UHPFRC showed improved tensile properties, energy-absorbing capacity, and NOx removal efficiency. The addition of TiO2 significantly enhanced the bond strength of straight steel fibers embedded in ultrahigh-performance concrete (UHPC), leading to a 7.7 times increase in NOx removal capability at a 75% replacement rate.

Photocatalytic high-performance fiber-reinforced cement composites with white Portland cement, titanium dioxide, and surface treated polyethylene fibers

Hong-Joon Choi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that by optimizing the dispersion of TiO2 powder and modifying the PE fibers, high NOx removal capacity and compressive strength can be achieved in developing photocatalytic high-performance fiber-reinforced cement composites. Plasma treatment showed strong tensile performance, while chromic acid treatment reduced tensile strength.
