The dual effect of grain size on the strain hardening behaviors of Ni-Co-Cr-Fe high entropy alloys

Xiaorong Liu et al.

Summary: Grain size plays a critical role in the strain hardening behaviors of high entropy alloys (HEAs) by affecting twinning-induced plasticity and dislocation-based deformation. Increasing grain size leads to a transition of dislocation glide mode and influences strain hardening rate. These findings have important implications for understanding the strain hardening behaviors in other face-centered-cubic HEAs.

Implications of slip transition on the work hardening and texture evolution of nickel-tungsten-iron ternary alloy

Mirtunjay Kumar et al.

Summary: The present study investigates the microstructure, texture, and work hardening behavior of the hot rolled and homogenized Ni-24W-22Fe alloy. The alloy showed unconventional strain hardening behavior which was determined to occur due to transition from single slip to multiple slips. Bulk texture measurement and in-situ electron backscatter diffraction provided evidence of planar slip and slip transition during deformation.

Effect of gradient microstructure on the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy

Summary: The AA5052 with a gradient strain and microstructure was produced by the accumulative compression bonding process in this study. A gradient microstructure was observed in the fourth pass sample, with elongated grains in the soft layer and fine equiaxed grains in the hard layers due to dynamic recrystallization. The fourth pass sample exhibited a good combination of high strength and high ductility, showing a recovery of strain hardening rate phenomenon with a remarkable improvement in strength.
