Optimization over time of reliable 5G-RAN with network function migrations

Nicola Di Cicco et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on resource optimization in 5G-RAN, proposing solutions that consider DU Hotel failure and service dynamics. The DUOpt algorithm is introduced for solving the multi-objective optimization problem in static traffic scenarios, and extensively benchmarked. The DUMig algorithm is proposed to address the optimization problem in dynamic traffic scenarios, achieving significant savings in the number of migrations compared to DUOpt while maintaining near-optimal resource assignment.
