Nutrition Concepts for the Treatment of Obesity in Adults

Meike Wiechert et al.

Summary: Obesity caused by positive energy balance is a serious health burden and a major risk factor for various diseases. Different evidence-based treatment approaches including lifestyle intervention, formula diet, drugs, and bariatric surgery are available. Learning from missing data: examining nonreporting patterns of height, weight, and BMI among Canadian youth

Amanda Doggett et al.

Summary: This study found that missing data in youth height and weight are somewhat related to the values themselves, and social desirability may play a substantial role in nonreporting. The predictors of missingness identified in this study can be used to inform future studies on potential bias from missing data and identify auxiliary variables for multiple imputation approaches.

Preeclampsia and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection: a systematic review

Giovanni Tossetta et al.

Summary: This article systematically searched relevant databases to explore the potential link between the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the onset of preeclampsia during pregnancy. Some studies suggest that pregnant women with COVID-19 are more likely to develop preeclampsia compared to those without the virus. However, due to hypertension being a common factor in both conditions, there is currently no specific diagnostic tool to differentiate between the two.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Brazilian pregnant and postpartum women: results from the REBRACO prospective cohort study

Renato B. Souza et al.

Summary: Brazil had a high number of maternal deaths and delays in healthcare. This study evaluated the characteristics and outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnant women. The results showed that non-white ethnicity, low education level, overweight or obesity, public prenatal care, planned pregnancies, postpartum infection, chronic hypertension, pre-existing diabetes, asthma, and anemia were associated with a higher risk for SARS. The availability of tests and maternal outcomes varied throughout the study.
