The COVID-19 pandemic in Brazilian pregnant and postpartum women: results from the REBRACO prospective cohort study

Summary: Brazil had a high number of maternal deaths and delays in healthcare. This study evaluated the characteristics and outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnant women. The results showed that non-white ethnicity, low education level, overweight or obesity, public prenatal care, planned pregnancies, postpartum infection, chronic hypertension, pre-existing diabetes, asthma, and anemia were associated with a higher risk for SARS. The availability of tests and maternal outcomes varied throughout the study.
