Realization of a magnonic analog adder with frequency-division multiplexing

Frank Schulz et al.

Summary: Accurately controlling the interaction of spin waves is a crucial challenge in magnonics for wave-based computing, particularly in neural networks and neuromorphic computing. This study demonstrates precise modulation of interference in a yttrium-iron-garnet based magnonic analog adder device, showcasing phase- and amplitude-sensitive interference and the feasibility of frequency-division multiplexing. Using time-resolved scanning transmission X-ray microscopy, the interference was directly observed, providing important proof of concept for this analog computing device and its underlying principle.

TimeMaxyne: A Shot-Noise Limited, Time-Resolved Pump-and-Probe Acquisition System Capable of 50 GHz Frequencies for Synchrotron-Based X-ray Microscopy

Markus Weigand et al.

Summary: With the development of modern synchrotron sources, X-ray microscopy has become a powerful tool for imaging material structures with high resolution and sensitivity to specific elements, structure, chemistry, and magnetism. A time-resolved acquisition setup called TimeMaxyne has been developed for the scanning X-ray microscope MAXYMUS at the BESSY II synchrotron, allowing for high precision, high throughput pump-and-probe imaging.

Controlling interlayer magnetic coupling in the two-dimensional magnet Fe3GeTe2

In Kee Park et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated enhanced interlayer ferromagnetic coupling in Fe3GeTe2 by manipulating the stacking symmetry and reducing the layer number. Electronic structure analysis revealed the mechanisms behind the enhancement and also showed how the coupling could be weakened by substrates due to screened Coulomb interactions.

Direct observation of two-dimensional magnons in atomically thin CrI3

John Cenker et al.

Summary: In this study, two-dimensional magnons were directly observed in atomically thin CrI3 using magneto-Raman spectroscopy, revealing optical selection rules and magnetic properties. The phonon magnon mode in monolayers exhibited strict selection rules, while the optical magnon modes in bilayers and bulk materials were influenced by layer index. Additionally, two degenerate optical magnon modes with opposite angular momentum and conjugate optical selection rules were resolved in layered antiferromagnetic states.

Observation of Standing Spin Waves in a van der Waals Magnetic Material

Lucky N. Kapoor et al.

Summary: Researches on spin waves for data storage, communication, and logic circuits in the field of spintronics are gaining renewed interest due to recent discovery of magnetism in 2D systems; Direct evidence of standing spin waves and uniform precessional resonance modes were presented in van der Waals magnetic material, CrCl3; Detection of standing spin waves near both branches, optical and acoustic, of antiferromagnetic resonance suggests potential for extraction of interlayer exchange field with temperature.

Magnetism and spin dynamics in room-temperature van der Waals magnet Fe5GeTe2

Laith Alahmed et al.

Summary: In this work, a room-temperature vdW magnetic crystal Fe5GeTe2 with a high Curie temperature is synthesized and studied for its magnetic properties. Significant Lande g-factor differences between different external magnetic field directions are observed, indicating the presence of orbital angular momentum contribution to the magnetic moment. The transition from ferromagnetic to ferrimagnetic state at lower temperatures is highlighted, providing insights into the understanding of magnetism in Fe5GeTe2 for potential applications in room-temperature spintronic devices.
