Chlorinated pesticides and PCB residues in the Egyptian Western Desert oases sediments

Tarek O. Said et al.

Summary: This preliminary investigation detected concentrations of chlorinated pesticides and PCBs in sediment samples from three desert oases in western Egypt. The results showed the presence of PCBs and pesticides in all samples, but at lower levels compared to other locations worldwide. The study also revealed minimal risks to organisms and people in the area according to guideline values.

Substituent engineering of covalent organic frameworks modulates the crystallinity and electrochemical reactivity

Jing Ning et al.

Summary: Substituents play key roles in synthesizing and controlling the structures of COFs during carbonization, affecting the crystallinity and electrochemical reactivity. Differences in substituents' chemical groups, sizes, and thermal stabilities lead to varied pore-collapse behaviors and structures of carbonized COFs, influencing electrochemical performances. Substituent engineering shows great potential in modulating the electrochemical reactivity of COFs.

Cobalt doped nitrogenous porous carbon derived from covalent organic framework as cataluminescence catalyst for rapid determination of n-hexane in edible oil

Zhenyu Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, a catalytic material of Co/NPC was fabricated from COFs and cobalt ion via direct carbonization, which showed excellent selective catalytic performance towards n-hexane. The Co/NPC based CTL sensor was employed for rapid and sensitive determination of n-hexane, with a good linear relation between signal intensity and n-hexane concentration in the range of 0.4-250.0 mg/L. Additionally, the Co/NPC based CTL sensor demonstrated accurate detection of n-hexane in edible oil samples, with recoveries ranging from 92.0% to 104.0%.
