Facile co-precipitated synthesis of NdFeO3 perovskite nanoparticles for lithium-ion battery anodes

Anh Tien Nguyen et al.

Summary: NdFeO3 perovskite nanoparticles were synthesized through co-precipitation and pyrolysis. As an anode material for lithium-ion batteries, NdFeO3 exhibited excellent electrochemical performance with high retention capacity, excellent cyclability, and high current rate. The perovskite structure of NdFeO3 contributed to its enhanced electrochemical efficiency due to short lithium-ion diffusion pathway and volume expansion control. These findings suggest that NdFeO3 perovskite nanoparticles are a promising candidate for next-generation LIBs.

Summary: This study synthesized and investigated perovskite-type NdFeO3 and NdCoO3 nanofibers and found that NdFeO3 NFs exhibited ferromagnetic performance at 298 K and paramagnetic characteristics at low temperatures, while NdCoO3 NFs showed paramagnetic behavior. Both types of nanofibers showed favorable electrochemical performance in supercapacitors and Li-ion batteries.

Li-ion storage in orthorhombic hydrated sodium molybdate with oxygen-vacancy defects

Tuan Loi Nguyen et al.

Summary: Two orthorhombic salts (OHMs) of Na2MoO4.(H2O)(2) were prepared at different temperatures and their unique layered structures with oxygen vacancies were analyzed. The OHMs_170 electrode exhibited better capacity retention and rate capability due to the advantageous formation of a higher amount of water vacancies and a low amount of oxygen vacancies, resulting in a stable electrode structure and fast lithium ion movements.

Structural and optical properties of Sr-doped NdFeO3 nanoparticles prepared by a simple co-precipitation method

Nguyen Thi Kim Chung et al.

Summary: The present study investigates the structure and optical properties of Sr-doped NdFeO3 nanoparticles synthesized through a simple co-precipitation method. The results show that the Sr-doped NdFeO3 nanoparticles have improved absorption in the visible range and a lower band gap value compared to other similar perovskite series, making them promising for optical applications.

Physicochemical and magnetic properties of functionalized lanthanide oxides with enhanced hydrophobicity

Joanna Kujawa et al.

Summary: A highly efficient method was developed to produce highly hydrophobic and super-hydrophobic materials with tunable adhesive properties and fractal-like structures. By chemically modifying lanthanide oxide powders, materials with thermally stable nanolayer were successfully generated. The surfaces functionalized with specific silanes showed very low adhesion and polar surface free energy, leading to immediate bouncing of water droplets upon contact.

Over-Reduction-Controlled Mixed-Valent Manganese Oxide with Tunable Mn2+/Mn3+ Ratio for High-Performance Asymmetric Supercapacitor with Enhanced Cycling Stability

Zixun Fang et al.

Summary: Manganese oxides with different Mn2+/Mn3+ ratios were prepared through an over-reduction (OR) strategy to tune their internal electron structures, showing promising potential for asymmetric supercapacitor electrode materials. The manganese oxide electrode with the most appropriate Mn2+/Mn3+ ratio exhibited large capacitance (274 F g(-1)) and high energy density, leading to excellent performance in assembling asymmetric supercapacitors. The cycle lifespan of the manganese oxide electrode was significantly improved due to the Jahn-Teller distortion of the Mn(III)O-6 octahedron, making it a competitive candidate for energy storage applications.
