2D/2D porous Co3O4/rGO nanosheets act as an electrochemical sensor for voltammetric tryptophan detection

Shiqi Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, 2D/2D porous Co3O4 nanosheets/rGO composites modified GCE were developed for electrochemical detection of tryptophan (Trp). The surface morphology and structure of Co3O4/rGO nanosheets were characterized using SEM, XRD, and Raman spectra. The electrochemical performance of Trp on the modified electrodes was discussed, and the best electrochemical property was achieved. The optimized Co3O4/rGO/GCE showed significantly improved oxidation peak intensity and current density compared to bare GCE, attributed to the synergy effect of 2D porous Co3O4 nanosheets and 2D rGO nanosheets. Wide linear determination ranges and low LOD were obtained after optimization, and the modified GCE sensor was successfully applied to detect Trp in commercial amino acid injection samples.

Enhanced thermoelectric properties of ZnO: C doping and band gap tuning

Yin Wu et al.

Summary: C-doping in ZnO was achieved through a facile and speedy SPS technique, improving electrical conductivity and power factor by reducing band gap and increasing carrier concentration. Meanwhile, introduced point defects strengthened phonon scattering and decreased thermal conductivity, leading to a peak ZT value of 0.024 at 773 K for Zn(O,C) bulk. This demonstrates that C-doping in ZnO is an effective and convenient strategy to enhance thermoelectric performance.
