Core Set of Domains for Outcome Measures in Behcet's Syndrome

Gulen Hatemi et al.

Summary: There is a need for reliable and widely-accepted outcome measures in randomized clinical trials for Behcet's syndrome. The Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) Behcet's Syndrome Working Group developed a core set of data-driven outcome measures through a comprehensive, iterative, and multistage project. The final core set includes 5 mandatory domains for all trials in Behcet's syndrome, as well as additional subdomains for specific organ-systems. The core set provides a foundation for harmonizing research and advancing effective therapies.

Clinician-created educational video for shared decision-making in the outpatient management of acne

Chih-Tsung Hung et al.

Summary: Shared decision-making (SDM) is patient-centered care, but limited consultation time is a barrier. Patient education is crucial in SDM, and visual aids are effective for improving health literacy and medication adherence. This study tested the effectiveness of a clinician-created educational video accessed by patients during waiting time. Results showed improved knowledge and higher satisfaction with the video compared to pamphlets.

The Core Rehabilitation Outcome Set for Single-Sided Deafness (CROSSSD) study: International consensus on outcome measures for trials of interventions for adults with single-sided deafness

Roulla Katiri et al.

Summary: Single-sided deafness (SSD) has functional, psychological, and social consequences. Interventions for adults with SSD include hearing aids and auditory implants. However, there is inconsistency in reporting the benefits and harms of these interventions in clinical trials, preventing meaningful comparisons or syntheses of trial results. The CROSSSD initiative aimed to achieve consensus among healthcare users and professionals on a set of core outcome domains that are critically important to assess in all clinical trials of SSD interventions.
