Characterisation of two p-type HPGe detectors by measurements and Monte Carlo simulations

Esra Uyar et al.

Summary: This study characterized two p-type HPGe detectors by determining the optimum dead layer thickness through experiments and simulations, finding that the optimized thicknesses differed slightly from the manufacturer's specifications.

Effect of the geometrical parameters of an HPGe detector on efficiency calculations using Monte Carlo methods

Alexandre Subercaze et al.

Summary: This paper presents a Monte Carlo model for an HPGe detector used to measure activity. The study investigates the effect of the detector's geometrical parameters on the efficiency calculations, identifying key parameters and optimal ranges. The optimized model shows a 3% average deviation between experimental and simulated efficiency for different source-detector distances.

Radiopurity studies of a rock sample from the Aut region

Swati Thakur et al.

Summary: Efforts are being made to establish an underground laboratory in India for rare event studies. Researchers have conducted radiopurity studies on rock samples from the potential laboratory site, finding lower levels of radiation contamination compared to other sites. This is significant for reducing radiation background. Additionally, neutron-induced activity was assessed through experiments.

Simulation of neutron background for a dark matter search experiment at JUSL

S. Banik et al.

Summary: Dark matter search experiments require a low to ultralow radiation background to operate effectively. This study focuses on analyzing and simulating the radiogenic and cosmogenic neutron backgrounds at the proposed JUSL laboratory in India and investigates the effectiveness of various shielding materials. The obtained results are comparable with estimates and measurements from other dark matter experiments, providing insights into the sensitivity and potential outcomes of the experiment at JUSL.
