Scoping Review of Critical Thinking Literature in Healthcare Education

Summary: Critical thinking is the process of analyzing and evaluating thinking to make decisions, and it has a significant impact on clinical reasoning. This scoping review examined instructional approaches to enhance students' critical thinking in healthcare education. However, no consensus was found regarding the definition, measurement, or instructional methods of critical thinking based on the analysis of 15 articles. Nonetheless, some alternative instructional methods were found to have a significant impact on learner critical thinking. Further research is needed to explore the effects of critical thinking on implicit biases and healthcare outcomes.
