Efficiency of an intervention study on nursing students' knowledge and practices regarding nutrition and dietary habits

Nutritional knowledge of nursing students: A systematic literature review

Summary: This study aimed to investigate nursing students' knowledge on nutrition through a literature review and examining teaching methodologies used in nutrition education. The findings showed that nursing students had poor knowledge of basic and specific nutrition, as well as lack of knowledge on nutritional self-care. The use of active teaching strategies improved students' knowledge on the subject.

Evaluation of nutrition literacy and nutrition knowledge level in nursing students: a study from Turkey

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the nutrition literacy and nutrition knowledge level of nursing students. The results showed that most students had good nutrition knowledge and sufficient nutrition literacy. The study also found a significant correlation between students' nutrition knowledge and nutrition literacy. To improve students' nutrition knowledge and prevent non-communicable diseases, nutrition education should be enhanced in the curriculum.

Summary: Three years after hospital treatment for severe restrictive anorexia nervosa, most patients were recovered or in partial remission, but still had subnormal values of body fat and skeletal muscle mass. Energy and micronutrient intakes were insufficient, highlighting the importance of regular nutritional assessment and counseling during recovery.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of nutrition education and intervention programs on nutrition knowledge and dietary practices among students and staff at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in Saudi Arabia. The results showed an improvement in nutrition knowledge after completion of the program, but no significant effect on dietary practices. Future nutrition awareness programs should target specific populations separately to achieve better results.
