Multifunctional ZnAl-MoO4 LDH assembled Ti3C2Tx MXene composite for active/passive corrosion protection behavior of epoxy coatings

Summary: A dual-functional composite corrosion inhibitor, ZnAl-MoO4 LDH@Ti3C2Tx MXene, is obtained by introducing ZnAl-NO3 LDH layers and active corrosion inhibitor MoOa onto the surface of Ti3C2Tx MXene. The composite coating containing ZnAl-MoO4 LDH@Ti3C2Tx MXene exhibits excellent anticorrosion performance and certain self-healing property. This work is of great significance for the synthesis of multifunctional composite corrosion inhibitors and the application of Ti3C2Tx MXene-based composite coatings in the field of corrosion protection.

Sulfosalicylic acid modified carbon dots as effective corrosion inhibitor and fluorescent corrosion indicator for carbon steel in HCl solution

Summary: A novel carbon dots based complex with sulfosalicylic acid modification was synthesized, which showed both corrosion inhibition and corrosion sensing abilities. The corrosion inhibition behavior of the complex was greatly improved compared to carbon dots, sulfosalicylic acid, and their mixture. The complex formed a hydrophobic adsorption film to prevent the attack of corrosive media, and it exhibited high coverage and binding energy on the metal surface. Additionally, the complex showed a significant fluorescence quenching effect upon complexation with iron ions.

The advantages and self-repairing mechanisms of smart graphene-based composite coatings are highlighted, along with the challenges associated with graphene and graphene-based composite coatings for metal protection.

Novel pH-responsive self-healing anti-corrosion coating with high barrier and corrosion inhibitor loading based on reduced graphene oxide loaded zeolite imidazole framework

Summary: This study combines the properties of graphene and zeolite imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8) to create a self-healing nanomaterial with excellent barrier properties and high loading rate. Adsorption behavior of Ti3C2Tx with h-BN nanosheet and their application in waterborne epoxy anti-corrosion coating

Summary: The addition of OH group modified h-BN was found to enhance the corrosion protection of waterborne Ti3C2Tx/epoxy coating and reduce the formation of the Ti3C2Tx MXene conductive networks. The adsorption stability of Ti3C2Tx/h-BN was significantly improved by the presence of B and N vacancy defects. The compactness and anti-corrosion performance of the composite coatings were dramatically improved after the addition of Ti3C2Tx and h-BN nanosheets.

2-Pyridinecarboxaldehyde-based Schiff base as an effective corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in HCl medium: Experimental and computational studies

Summary: A new rigid double Schiff base of PBPM was synthesized and evaluated as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1.0 mol L-1 HCl medium. The results showed that PBPM exhibited high inhibition efficiency and acted as a mixed-type corrosion inhibitor. The adsorption of PBPM on mild steel surfaces followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm, and a protective film was formed. DFT calculations and Fukui functions revealed the influence of PBPM's molecular configuration on its corrosion inhibition behavior.

An imide-based organic polymer as an inhibitor for HRB400 steel in simulated concrete pore solution: Experimental and theoretical calculations

ZrO2-anchored rGO nanohybrid for simultaneously enhancing the wear resistance and anticorrosion performance of multifunctional epoxy coatings

Density Functional Theory Study on the Influence of Cation and Anion Elements Doping on the Surface of Ti3C2 on the Adsorption Performance of Formaldehyde

Summary: This study optimized the geometric structure and electronic properties of intrinsic Ti3C2 and Cu-, Pt-, Co-, Si-, F-, Cl-, or Br-doped Ti3C2 based on the generalized gradient approximation of density functional theory, and calculated the adsorption process of HCHO on the surface of these materials. The results showed that cationic doping enhanced the adsorption activity of the substrate for formaldehyde, while anionic doping generally reduced the formaldehyde adsorption activity. Si-doping significantly improved the adsorption capacity of Ti3C2 for formaldehyde.

Electrochemical and Theoretical Examination of Some Imine Compounds as Corrosion Inhibitors for Carbon Steel in Oil Wells Formation Water

Summary: The imine compounds PSI and PPI were synthesized and evaluated as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in formation water. The inhibition efficiency of PSI and PPI was found to be concentration-dependent, with maximum efficiencies of 83% and 90% at a concentration of 1 x 10-3 M, respectively. Both compounds exhibited good mixed-type corrosion inhibition according to potentiodynamic polarization experiments. Adsorption of PSI and PPI on carbon steel surfaces followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, involving both physisorption and chemisorption. DFT studies and molecular dynamic simulation were conducted to investigate the impact of PSI and PPI molecules on inhibition performance in formation water.

A multiple synergistic composite coating with ultrahigh anti-corrosion performance under harsh oxygen environment

Aniline pentamer-modified reduced graphene oxide/epoxy composites as anticorrosion coatings

High-performance all-organic aqueous batteries based on a poly(imide) anode and poly(catechol) cathode

Summary: Aqueous all-polymer batteries (AqPBs) are considered promising solutions for safe, sustainable, and high-performance energy storage applications. The development of such batteries, however, requires precise optimization of both electrodes and the electrolyte composition in order to maintain stable redox activity and deliver optimal voltage output. A specific AqPB system using a poly(imide) (PI) anode and poly(catechol) (PC) cathode has been shown to exhibit tunable cell voltage depending on the salt used in the aqueous electrolyte, achieving a maximum energy/power density of 80.6 W h kg(anode+cathode)(-1)/348 kW kg(anode+cathode)(-1) in Li+/H+, surpassing previously reported AqPB systems.
