Pectolinarigenin ameliorates acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury via attenuating oxidative stress and inflammatory response in Nrf2 and PPARa dependent manners

Qian Li et al.

Summary: The study found that Pectolinarigenin (PEC), an abundant constituent in Cirsii Japonici Herba Carbonisata (Dajitan), has hepatoprotective effects against acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury (AILI). PEC reduced liver inflammation, increased the activity of APAP detoxification enzymes, and activated the Nrf2 and PPAR alpha signaling pathways. PEC may be a promising therapeutic drug against AILI.

Quantification of Accurate Composition and Total Abundance of Homologous Proteins by Conserved-Plus-Surrogate Peptide Approach: Quantification of UDP Glucuronosyltransferases in Human TissuesS

Deepak Ahire et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel conserved-plus-surrogate peptide (CPSP) approach was developed to determine the absolute compositions and total abundance of UGTs in human liver, intestine, and kidney. The CPSP approach addresses the issue of data inconsistency caused by surrogate peptide-specific digestion. The results of this study can be applied to the in vitro-to-in vivo extrapolation of UGT-mediated drug metabolism.

Pectolinarigenin Suppresses LPS-Induced Inflammatory Response in Macrophages and Attenuates DSS-Induced Colitis by Modulating the NF-κB/Nrf2 Signaling Pathway

Yuling Feng et al.

Summary: The study reveals the potential beneficial effects of pectolinarigenin (PEC) in macrophage cells and DSS-induced colitis model. PEC pretreatment inhibits NF-kappa B activation and increases Nrf2 protein expression. Moreover, PEC regulates the NF-kappa B/Nrf2 pathway, reducing inflammation and pathological damages in the colon. PEC may be a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
