Similarity network fusion for scholarly journals

Federica Baccini et al.

Summary: This study explores the intellectual and social proximity among scholarly journals using network fusion techniques. The results show that editors play a major role in defining the boundaries of scholarly communities within the fused network structure, while clusters of journals in information and library sciences and statistics reflect sub-field specializations, and in economics, clusters of journals are more related to alternative methodological approaches.

Scores of a specific field-normalized indicator calculated with different approaches of field-categorization: Are the scores different or similar?

Robin Haunschild et al.

Summary: The usage of field-normalized citation scores is a bibliometric standard, but the choice of field-classification system can significantly affect the resulting scores. This study compared six different field-classification systems and found that systems based on journal sets and intellectual classifications had moderate agreement, while systems based on citation relations and semantic similarity scores had larger differences. It highlights the importance of understanding the classification systems used when comparing normalized citation impact scores or rankings.

The correlation between author-editorial cooperation and the author's publications in journals

Tianjiao Zhang et al.

Summary: The study explores the impact of author-editorial cooperation on authors' publications and citation impacts in journals, proposing new measurement metrics and analyzing the influence through correlation and regression analysis. Results suggest a negative correlation between author-editorial cooperation types and authors' publications, while the contribution of the editorial board positively affects authors' publications.

Evolutionary exploration and comparative analysis of the research topic networks in information disciplines

Xiaoguang Wang et al.

Summary: Computer Science focuses more on information technology research, while Library Science is more concerned with information communication, organization, access, and utilization. The development patterns differ between the two disciplines, with Computer Science having a more concentrated research connotation, while Library Science has a broader research denotation. Additionally, the research hotspots in Library Science shift slightly faster, while the research continuity in Computer Science is slightly higher.
