Structural, mechanical and dynamical stabilities of K2NaMCl6 (M: Cr, Fe) halide perovskites along with electronic and thermal properties

Danish Abdullah et al.

Summary: The properties of K2NaMCl6 (M: Cr, Fe) were simulated using density functional theory. The exchange-correlation potential of halide perovskites was determined using generalized gradient approximation and modified Becke-Johnson potential. The structure's stability was assessed by optimizing total energy and employing the tolerance factor. The results suggest that K2NaMCl6 could be potential candidates for waste heat recovery based on their thermoelectric figure of merit and magnetic moment.

Ab-Initio Calculations of Structural, Optoelectronic, Thermoelectric, and Thermodynamic Properties of Mixed-Halide Perovskites RbPbBr3-xIx (x=0 to 3): Applicable in Renewable Energy Devices

Monika Rani et al.

Summary: In this research, the variations in the properties of mixed halide perovskites RbPbBr3-xIx (x = 0 to 3) were investigated using the FP-LAPW approach in the WIEN2k code with GGA-PBE functionals. The orthorhombic halides RbPbBr3-xIx were found to be direct band gap semiconductors with a band gap of 2 to 3 eV, consistent with previous experimental and theoretical results. The thermodynamic results confirmed the thermal stability of these materials. Additionally, RbPbI3 showed higher optical parameters compared to other halide perovskites, suggesting its potential use in photovoltaic applications. The thermoelectric parameters revealed that RbPbIBr2 is the most efficient among the investigated materials.

Pressure-Induced Band Gap Engineering of Nontoxic Lead-Free Halide Perovskite CsMgI3 for Optoelectronic Applications

Mithun Khan et al.

Summary: Recently, the attention on lead halide perovskites has increased due to their physicochemical features and possible applications, but their instability and toxicity hinder commercialization. This study investigates the properties of non-toxic perovskite CsMgI(3) under hydrostatic pressure. The results show that pressure enhances the material's characteristics, such as shorter and stronger bonds and increased absorption coefficient. It also suggests that CsMgI3 under pressure may be used more frequently in solar cells and optoelectronic devices. This study highlights the potential of hydrostatic pressure in modifying the optoelectronic and mechanical properties of lead-free perovskites.

A DFT study of the stability and optoelectronic properties of all-inorganic lead-free halide perovskites

Diwen Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that CsGeX3 and Cs2GeCl6 are stable at room temperature, while Cs2GeBr6 and Cs2GeI6 are unstable. A phase transition occurs in CsGe1-xSnxI3 systems when the Sn doping ratio is over 0.53, and CsGe2/3Sn1/3I3 and CsGe0.25Sn0.75I3 show a potential tendency for phase segregation, making them promising candidates for solar cells. Overall, the novel lead-free mixed Ge-Sn perovskites demonstrate favorable optoelectronic properties for single-junction solar cells.

Enhancement of thermoelectric power factor of zinc oxide by nickel and indium dual doping

Chambakkoottathil Soumya et al.

Summary: The effect of dual substitution of indium and nickel on the structural and morphological deformation of zinc oxide and its enhancement of thermoelectric properties were investigated. The doped materials showed a similar hexagonal wurtzite structure to the host material, with increased crystallite size and strain due to the inclusion of cations with larger radius. The optical band gap energy decreased, leading to higher charge carrier density and improved transport properties. The doped samples exhibited highest electrical conductivity and seebeck coefficient, resulting in an increased power factor, while the thermal conductivity decreased. The highest figure of merit obtained was 0.11.
