The Expression Patterns and Roles of Lysyl Oxidases in Aortic Dissection

Xin Yi et al.

Summary: The study revealed that LOXL2 and LOXL3 protein levels are upregulated in aortic dissection patients compared to non-AD subjects, while LOXL4 levels are downregulated and LOX and LOXL1 levels are comparable. LOXL2 regulates extracellular matrix in HASMCs, and LOXL3 inhibits HASMC proliferation, indicating their involvement in the pathological process of aortic dissection.

Selective depletion of hepatic stellate cells-specific LOXL1 alleviates liver fibrosis

Aiting Yang et al.

Summary: The deficiency of HSCs-specific Loxl1 can prevent CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis and reduce fibrosis and inflammation in liver tissue, with ITGA8/FAK/PI3K/AKT/HIF1a being essential for the function and expression of LOXL1. The study suggests novel mechanisms and potential targets for the treatment of fibrosis in the future.

LOXL1 exerts oncogenesis and stimulates angiogenesis through the LOXL1-FBLN5/αvβ3 integrin/FAK-MAPK axis in ICC

Ruiyan Yuan et al.

Summary: Aberrant expression of LOXL1 in patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) promotes cancer cell growth, metastasis, and angiogenesis by interacting with FBLN5 and activating the FAK-MAPK signaling pathway. These findings suggest that the LOXL1-FBLN5/alpha v beta 3 integrin/FAK-MAPK axis is a critical pathological link leading to angiogenesis in ICC.

Osteopontin Expression in Thyroid Cancer: Deciphering EMT-Related Molecular Mechanisms

Bruna Prunes Pena Baroni Viana et al.

Summary: Thyroid cancer, the most common tumor arising from the endocrine system, typically has a good prognosis, but aggressive subtypes can be resistant to therapy and lead to early metastasis. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition and its reverse, mesenchymal-epithelial transition, play key roles in cancer progression, including in thyroid cancer. Although the matricellular protein osteopontin is known to regulate EMT in various tumor types, its specific role in thyroid cancer has not been definitively established.

Comprehensive characterization of pathological stage-related genes of papillary thyroid cancer along with survival prediction

Lei Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, comprehensive functional characterization of PTC stage-related genes identified six important genes associated with disease stages, as well as 12 DNA methylation sites significantly related to their expression. Validation data suggested that these hub genes may serve as potential biomarkers for PTC stages, and a 21-mRNA-based prognostic risk model showed strong predictive ability for the survival of PTC III/IV patients. Functional analysis indicated differential expression genes between high- and low-risk patients may influence the progression of PTC, and high-risk patients' tumor microenvironment could be more conducive to tumor growth.

Aberrant DNA Methylation-Mediated FOXF2 Dysregulation Is a Prognostic Risk Factor for Gastric Cancer

Cheng Zhang et al.

Summary: This study revealed that FOXF2 is downregulated in gastric cancer due to aberrant DNA methylation, and the degree of methylation in the FOXF2 promoter region is related to patient prognosis. Additionally, FOXF2 may play a vital biological regulation role in gastric cancer through the FOXF2/miRNAs/target genes axis.
