Frequency-Stabilized External Cavity Diode Laser at 1572 nm Based on Frequency Stability Transfer

Qingshuai Su et al.

Summary: This article reports a frequency-stabilized narrow-linewidth external cavity diode laser (ECDL) operating at the wavelength of the R18 carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption line for space-borne CO2 detection LIDAR. The ECDL module, based on a fiber Bragg grating, is integrated in a compact butterfly package and emits at the wavelength of 1572.02 nm with a tunability of 22 GHz. A polarization-maintaining all-fiber ring resonator is used as a transfer cavity to maintain long-term stability of a metrological frequency reference at 1550.12 nm. By combining the narrowing linewidth technique and frequency stability transfer technique, the laser exhibits an intrinsic Lorentzian linewidth of 15 kHz and a relative frequency stability on the order of 10(-12) for averaging time from 1 to 1000 s.

Design of a Littrow-type diode laser with independent control of cavity length and grating rotation

Lucia Duca et al.

Summary: A novel extended-cavity diode laser based on a modified Littrow configuration is presented, showing robustness against misalignment and hysteresis. Laser prototypes with different external cavity lengths were tested, exhibiting mode-hop-free frequency tunability upon changes in cavity length. This design is well suited for atomic and molecular experiments requiring long-term stability.

Theory for Twisted Bilayer Photonic Crystal Slabs

Beicheng Lou et al.

Summary: The scattering properties of twisted bilayer photonic crystal slabs were analyzed using a high-dimensional plane wave expansion method, showing strongly tunable resonance properties and chiral behavior. A semi-analytical explanation was provided for the resonant properties, along with a correspondence to a simpler structure.

Grating periods measurement of multi-pitched grating using Littrow configuration external cavity diode laser

Shuzo Masui et al.

Summary: A simple measurement technique is proposed for estimating grating periods and Littrow angles simultaneously in an external cavity diode laser with multi-pitched gratings. Experimental results show that this technique can achieve sufficient variation of resonant wavelength with minimal grating rotation, and successfully measure the grating periods and Littrow angles of dual-period holographic gratings with less than 1% error. This technique has the potential for future applications in the measurement of motionless multi-pitched gratings, diffractive optics, and metasurfaces.

Minyeong Kim et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the electric dipole (ED) and magnetic dipole (MD) resonances induced by oblique light incidence in a dielectric nanostructure slab, showing that the symmetry breaking in TE and TM polarizations at oblique incidences of light led to different resonance features, which were analyzed through studies of energy fluxes.
