The positive correlation of antioxidant activity and prebiotic effect about oat phenolic compounds

Yunzhen Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between the antioxidant activity and prebiotic effect of oat phenolic compounds. The results showed that phenolic compounds with higher antioxidant capacity can promote the proliferation of beneficial gut microbiota and inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria. This study provides a basis for understanding the relationship between antioxidant stress and gut microbiota regulation.

Air Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet to Improve Fruiting Body Production and Enhance Bioactive Phytochemicals from Mutant Cordyceps militaris (White Cordyceps militaris)

Sujarinee Sangwanna et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different treatment times of an air atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) on the production of fruiting bodies and phytochemicals of white Cordyceps militaris. Results showed that optimal APPJ treatment significantly increased the fresh and dry weights of white C. militaris fruiting bodies. APPJ treatments also led to higher levels of cordycepin, adenosine, superoxide dismutase, glutathione S-transferase, and beta-glucan in the fruiting bodies, as well as enhanced antioxidant properties. However, carotenoid content decreased with APPJ treatment.

Impact of dielectric barrier discharge cold plasma on the quality and phenolic metabolism in blueberries based on metabonomic analysis

Dandan Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that cold plasma treatment effectively preserved the quality of blueberries and inhibited the growth of microorganisms. The treatment also increased the levels of phenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanins, indicating an impact on phenolic metabolism. The study further identified 59 substances in blueberries treated with cold plasma, and the activities of key enzymes involved in the phenolic metabolism were found to be higher. These results suggest that cold plasma treatment affects the conversion of L-phenylalanine to phenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanins.

Optimization of EDM Machinability of Hastelloy C22 Super Alloys

Engin Nas et al.

Summary: In this study, machinability tests were conducted on a corrosion-resistant superalloy using electrical discharge machining (EDM) and the effect of different cryogenic treatments on the EDM processing performance was investigated. The optimal parameters for both surface roughness and material removal rate were determined using the Taguchi L-18 method. The results showed that peak current was the most significant factor affecting surface roughness and material removal rate.
