Analysis of global brands' green procurement strategy: Co-opetitive local sourcing vs. overseas sourcing under delivery disruption

The effect of carbon tariffs and the associated coping strategies: A global supply chain perspective

Summary: The differences in carbon regulations pose a significant obstacle to global carbon emissions reductions. High-carbon-regulated countries are considering imposing carbon tariffs on imported products to alleviate environmental pressures. In response, low-carbon-regulated countries can adopt either the allocation of carbon quotas or subsidies to reduce emissions reduction costs. This paper explores the joint impact of carbon tariffs and coping strategies, revealing that carbon tariffs can increase production and profits for manufacturers with low emissions reduction costs. The response strategy of low-carbon-regulated countries can have both positive and negative effects on global carbon emissions, but carbon tariffs always have a negative impact on their social welfare. Moreover, carbon tariffs may also harm the social welfare of high-carbon-regulated countries, especially when their manufacturers face high emissions reduction costs. Ultimately, both the H and S strategies can be win-win strategies for low-carbon-regulated countries, high-carbon-regulated countries, and the global community, depending on the level of emissions reduction cost subsidies.

Gains and Losses of Key Opinion Leaders' Product Promotion in Livestream E-commerce

Summary: In livestream e-commerce, brand-owners often utilize KOLs for product promotion and sales, but this practice may not always be beneficial. It is observed that KOLs sometimes sell and return products for network externality. To assess the tradeoffs, a study compared the brand-owner's profits with and without a KOL in a dual-channel system. The findings show that the brand-owner's gains/losses depend on the commission rate, retain rate, and network externality intensity.

Disruptive technologies for advancing supply chain resilience

Summary: Disruptive technologies offer a new approach to supply chain risk management and present both opportunities and challenges for enhancing supply chain resilience. This study summarizes the application cases of disruptive technologies in supply chain resilience and evaluates their impact. The findings demonstrate that disruptive technologies can enhance the flexibility, visibility, agility, and other capabilities of the supply chain at different risk management stages, thereby significantly elevating the level of supply chain resilience. Although disruptive technologies may disrupt the construction of supply chain resilience, their damages can be mitigated through technology iteration or other disruptive technologies. Additionally, disruptive technologies can provide better stability for supply chain resilience. The study also provides several recommendations for leveraging disruptive technologies in constructing supply chain resilience.

Omnichannel retail operations with ship-to-store and ship-from-store options under supply disruption

Summary: This study investigates the use of omnichannel retailing strategies to mitigate the risk of supply disruption in the post-pandemic era. The results show that the adoption of omnichannel fulfillment options can reduce the risk in a supply chain that orders products from reliable and risky suppliers. Interestingly, a win-win-win outcome can be achieved when the supply disruption risk is high and the market share of the risky supplier is low. Furthermore, the entire supply chain benefits from the omnichannel retailing strategy, even in the face of high disruption risk.

Green reverse logistics: Exploring the vehicle routing problem with deliveries and pickups

Summary: The Vehicle Routing Problem with Divisible Deliveries and Pickups (VRPDDP) is a research topic with wide applications in reverse logistics, but has not been well explored in literature. This study investigates the economic and environmental impacts of VRPDDP and compares it with the traditional Vehicle Routing Problem with Simultaneous Deliveries and Pickups (VRPSDP). The results show that splitting customer visits in VRPDDP reduces CO2 emissions for load-constrained distribution problems, and the savings percentage is higher in instances with a random network compared to a clustered network of customers. Retailer's make-or-buy decision for remanufactured products under in-house yield uncertainty
