A Versatile Route to Acyl (MIDA)Boronates

Hui Qiao et al.

Summary: This study presents a modular approach to highly functional acyl (MIDA)boronates. The radical derived from acetyl (MIDA)boronate is generated and captured by various alkenes, providing access to numerous otherwise inaccessible structures. The reactivity of the acetyl (MIDA)boronate radical allows the synthesis of a wide range of acyl (MIDA)boronates, which can be further transformed into B(MIDA) substituted furans and pyrroles.

An Ionic-Radical Approach to Vicinally Functionalized Cyclopentanones and Cyclohexanones

Bartosz Bieszczad et al.

Summary: This study describes a versatile strategy for the synthesis of vicinally functionalized cyclopentanones and cyclohexanones. Using new reagents, alpha-xanthyl enones, these compounds can be easily prepared from the reaction of xanthate salts with corresponding epoxyketones. The beta-functionalization of these compounds can be achieved without affecting the xanthate moiety, greatly expanding the pool of xanthate substrates and enabling the synthesis of useful building blocks for natural product synthesis.

A Convergent, Stereoselective Route to Trisubstituted Alkenyl Boronates

Jean Michalland et al.

Summary: A modular, stereoselective route to trisubstituted (Z)-alkenyl (MIDA)boronates was achieved by preparing vinyl boronate precursors through copper-catalyzed protoboration of propargyl alcohols, followed by radical addition-fragmentation of dithiocarbonates. This approach allowed for highly stereoselective fragmentation with the assistance of the bulky (MIDA)boronate.

Modular Approach to Substituted Pyridoazepinones

Valentin S. Dorokhov et al.

Summary: A general and flexible synthetic route to substituted pyridoazepinones has been presented in this study, enabled by the xanthate addition-transfer process. The method shows good functional group tolerance and allows the preparation of target molecules on gram scale.

Summary: A new reaction was discovered for modifying alkenes and heteroarenes, particularly in biologically active substances. The saponification of acetate produces fluorocyclobutanes, which could lead to new drug candidates with potential therapeutic effects.
