Axial compressive performance of RC columns strengthened with prestressed CFRP fabric combined with UHPC jacket

Chun-ling Lu et al.

Summary: A new method of strengthening RC columns is proposed in this study, which combines prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) fabric and an ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) jacket. The performance of the new method was investigated through testing eight concrete columns strengthened with different methods and one unstrengthened column under axial compression. The results showed that the combined action of CFRP fabric and a UHPC jacket can significantly improve the load carrying capacity and ductility of the RC columns, surpassing the gains offered by individual strengthening methods.

Reinforced concrete beams retrofitted with UHPC or CFRP

Yishuo Huang et al.

Summary: This study explores the retrofitting of reinforced concrete beams with ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) or carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The results show that UHPC increases the ultimate load of the beams by 35% and their displacement by 26.8 mm, making it a better choice in terms of toughness and economic benefits.

Impact of using different materials, curing regimes, and mixing procedures on compressive strength of reactive powder concrete-A review

Sara Ahmed et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that alternative mineral admixtures can successfully replace cement, SF, and quartz sand/powder in RPC production to achieve high strength performance while maintaining eco-friendliness. Furthermore, the use of different curing regimes and mixing procedures can significantly impact the compressive strength of RPC, with four-stage mixing showing potential for up to 22% enhancement in strength compared to three-stage mixing.
