Facile synthesis of NiO-loaded g-C3N4 heterojunction photocatalyst for efficient photocatalytic degradation of 4-nitrophenol under visible light irradiation

Summary: This study synthesized NiO-loaded g-C3N4 photocatalysts using an environmentally friendly ultrasonic-assisted approach. The photocatalysts exhibited a reduced band gap energy, enhanced charge separation and transfer, and high photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation. The optimized ratio of NiO-loaded g-C3N4 displayed the highest performance for the photodegradation of 4-nitrophenol in water.

The ternary composite showed a broader absorption spectrum and enhanced electron-hole separation and charge carrier transfer. The optimal molar ratio of BiVO4:Bi2WO6:WO3 was found to be 0.375:0.375:0.25, displaying the best photocatalytic activity with a 50.9% greater degradation rate for methylene blue.
