The effect of delamination in free vibration responses of adhesively bonded spar wingskin joints

P. K. Mishra et al.

Summary: This article investigates the effects of delamination on the structural vibration characteristics of spar wingskin joints made with curved laminated composites. Three-dimensional finite element analysis is used to evaluate the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the joint structure, and various parameters are analyzed to understand their effects on the free vibration responses. The results of this study can provide guidelines for designing curved laminated composite joint structures.

Study on structural optimization of braid-and-lay integrated carbon fiber reinforced polymer for metro bogie

Qihua Ma et al.

Summary: This article proposes a novel three-dimensional braided and prepreg-layered (braid-and-lay) composite forming process for replacing metal materials and achieving lightweight. The performance advantages of braid-and-lay composites were verified through experimental methods, and a structural optimization design was carried out based on predicted elastic parameters. The results show a 15.33% reduction in structure mass while ensuring displacement and stress responses within the constraint range.

An improved partial similitude method for dynamic characteristic of rotor systems based on Levenberg-Marquardt method

Lei Li et al.

Summary: Similitude theory is widely used in predicting the structural responses of full-size prototypes through scaled models. Partial similitude, more flexible in practical design, needs improvement in accuracy. An improved partial similitude approach is presented in this study to establish scaling laws for rotor systems and to overcome the insufficient accuracy of existing methods in predicting dynamic characteristics. The accuracy and effectiveness of this approach are validated through numerical and experimental case studies, showing higher accuracy than existing methods.

Simultaneously improve the mode II interlaminar fracture toughness, flexural properties, and impact strength of CFRP composites with short aramid fiber interlaminar toughening

Yongan Wang et al.

Summary: This work focuses on the mode II interlaminar fracture behavior of carbon fiber composites toughened by short aramid fiber modified epoxy resin. The addition of short fibers increases the mode II interlaminar fracture toughness, with the best toughening effect observed at a fiber content of 10 g/m(2). The toughening mechanism was observed through SEM images of the fracture surface, and improved flexural properties and impact strength were achieved using this method, demonstrating its effectiveness as an interlaminar toughening method.

A state-of-the-art review on potential applications of natural fiber-reinforced polymer composite filled with inorganic nanoparticle

Trilokinath Mishra et al.

Summary: This review discusses the mechanical, flame retardant, thermal, tribological, water absorption, and biodegradable properties of inorganic nanoparticle-filled natural reinforced polymer composites and their applications. Research has shown that the incorporation of inorganic nanoparticles improves the mechanical and tribological properties of the composites, enhances thermal stability and flame retardancy, and reduces water absorption. These biocomposites have higher degradability, cause less environmental pollution, and find utility in various industries and fields.

Vibration analysis of fluid-conveying multi-scale hybrid nanocomposite shells with respect to agglomeration of nanofillers

Farzad Ebrahimi et al.

Summary: The vibration problem of a fluid conveying cylindrical shell made of newly developed multi-scale hybrid nanocomposites is solved analytically, considering the agglomeration effect of nanofillers and the influence of viscous flow. The governing equations are solved using Galerkin's method to determine the natural frequency of the structure under different boundary conditions, with the effects of each parameter shown graphically.

Effects of different interface conditions on energy absorption characteristics of Al/carbon fiber reinforced polymer hybrid structures for multiple loading conditions

Qi-hua Ma et al.

Summary: The treatment of CFRP-metal bond interface is crucial for the practical application of CFRP-reinforced metal structures in automobile, aviation, and other transportation vehicles. Different interface connection conditions have varied effects on the failure mode and energy absorption of hybrid tubes, showing improvement in energy absorption characteristics under axial crushing and transverse bending loads through sandblasting and cementing, while having little impact on crashworthiness under radial pressure.
