GPR41 Regulates the Proliferation of BRECs via the PIK3-AKT-mTOR Pathway

Zitong Meng et al.

Summary: Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) regulate the proliferation and development of bovine rumen epithelial cells (BRECs) via G protein-coupled receptor 41 (GPR41). Knockdown of GPR41 (GRP41KD) decreased BRECs proliferation and altered gene expression profiles, particularly in PIK3 signaling, cell cycle, and amino acid transport pathways. Further analysis showed that GPR41KD BRECs downregulated key genes in the PIK3-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway and cyclin proteins D2 and E2, suggesting that GPR41 affects BRECs proliferation via this pathway.

Sodium butyrate attenuated neuronal apoptosis via GPR41/Gβγ/PI3K/Akt pathway after MCAO in rats

Zhenhua Zhou et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that intranasal administration of sodium butyrate reduced infarct volume and improved neurological function after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats. The mechanism involved the activation of the PI3K/Akt pathway via GPR41/G beta gamma, leading to attenuation of neuronal apoptosis.

Effect of acetate, β-hydroxybutyrate and their interaction on lipogenic gene expression, triglyceride contents and lipid droplet formation in dairy cow mammary epithelial cells

Ilyas Ali et al.

Summary: The study found that acetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, and their combinations increase the expression of lipogenic genes and enhance lipogenic capacity in dairy cow mammary epithelial cells. These results suggest that SCFAs regulate fat synthesis by activating the SREBP1 and INSIG1 signaling pathways.

MTHFD2 facilitates breast cancer cell proliferation via the AKT signaling pathway

Jun Huang et al.

Summary: MTHFD2 expression is higher in breast cancer tissues compared to normal tissues and is associated with poorer overall survival. Overexpression of MTHFD2 promotes tumorigenic properties in breast cancer cells, while depletion of MTHFD2 has the opposite effect. MTHFD2 may play a protumor role in breast cancer by activating the AKT signaling pathway.
