Efficacy of bivalent vaccine against Aeromonas salmonicida and Edwardsiella tarda infections in turbot

Lin Su et al.

Summary: In recent years, combination vaccines have become necessary to prevent fish diseases caused by multiple infections simultaneously. In this study, an inactivated bivalent vaccine was prepared for Aeromonas salmonicida and Edwardsiella tarda. After vaccination, the vaccinated turbot showed a relative percentage survival (RPS) of 77.1% when challenged with A. salmonicida and E. tarda. The study also found that the vaccinated group had upregulated serum antibody titer and lysozyme activity, as well as increased expression levels of genes related to antigen recognition, processing, and presentation.

Transcriptome analysis of immune response in recombinant cell vaccine expressing OmpK vaccinated juvenile seabass (lates calcarifer) head kidney against vibrio harveyi infection

Santha Silvaraj et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of a recombinant OMP vaccine on hematological parameters and histopathological examination in seabass, finding positive effects on certain blood parameters and mild histological alterations in vital organs compared to control groups. Transcriptome analysis revealed a higher regulation of genes and pathways in response to V. harveyi infection in vaccinated fish. Protein-protein interaction analysis identified key pathways in infected fish, suggesting potential for further studies. Immune-related signaling pathways were also identified as crucial for immunity and anti-inflammation.

Scale Drop Disease Virus (SDDV) and Lates calcarifer Herpes Virus (LCHV) Coinfection Downregulate Immune-Relevant Pathways and Cause Splenic and Kidney Necrosis in Barramundi Under Commercial Farming Conditions

Jose A. Domingos et al.

Summary: Marine farming of barramundi in Southeast Asia is currently affected by viral diseases, with scale drop disease virus and L. calcarifer herpes virus being detected in all sampled fish. Histopathology showed abnormal fat accumulation in the livers of sick fish, inflammation and necrosis in the kidneys, and severe necrosis in the spleen. RNA degradation in the kidney and spleen of sick fish indicated organ failure in advanced stages of scale drop disease.
