Stratigraphic subdivision-based logging curves generation using neural random forests

Weiyao Zhu et al.

Summary: This study used the neural random forest (NRF) model to generate missing logging curves in a shale gas reservoir in China for the first time. Results showed that the NRF model achieved high precision and higher prediction accuracy compared to neural network (NN) and random forest (RF) models. Additionally, joint training of the NRF model performed slightly better than independent training. Stratigraphic subdivision information was proven to be important in reducing prediction errors and improving accuracy.

Aboveground biomass estimation in forests with random forest and Monte Carlo-based uncertainty analysis

Zizhao Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of different variables on aboveground biomass (AGB) inversion in forests and evaluates the resulting model uncertainties. The results indicate that the model based on multiple variables performs the best, highlighting its importance in improving the accuracy of AGB estimates.

Oblique and rotation double random forest

M. A. Ganaie et al.

Summary: This paper proposes two new approaches known as oblique and rotation double random forests. The oblique double random forests improve the performance of decision trees by using multisurface proximal support vector machine and different regularization techniques. The rotation double random forests enhance diversity and generalization performance by generating different feature space transformations at each node.

Fault detection and classification in oil wells and production/service lines using random forest

Matheus A. Marins et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the automatic detection and classification of faulty events in oil and gas wells and lines during practical operation. A random forest classifier with different statistical measures is used to identify different fault types, achieving an accuracy rate of 94%. The system's average time of detection is 12% of the transient period before the fault steady-state.

Petrophysical heterogeneity of the early Cretaceous Alamein dolomite reservoir from North Razzak oil field, Egypt integrating well logs, core measurements, and machine learning approach

Souvik Sen et al.

Summary: Capturing petrophysical heterogeneities within a reservoir is crucial for reservoir deliverability and field development programs. This study evaluated the Alamein dolomite reservoir in the Western Desert of Egypt, identifying a wide range of porosity and permeability. A permeability prediction model based on Random Forest regression provided more confident predictions compared to conventional methods, and six distinct petrofacies associations were identified based on petrophysical attributes.

Log facies identification in carbonate reservoirs using multiclass semi-supervised learning strategy

Xixi Lan et al.

Summary: This study introduces a multi-class positive and unlabeled machine learning method based on semi-supervised learning for identifying carbonate log facies. By leveraging labeled and unlabeled data simultaneously, the method improves the identification of log facies, especially showing superior performance in handling minority classes.
