Predicting the interaction between organic layer and metal substrate through DFTB and electrochemical approach for excellent corrosion protection

Abdelkarim Chaouiki et al.

Summary: In this study, a new carbocyclic compound PTC was synthesized as a sustainable-green corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in HCl solution. The inhibitive performance of PTC was characterized and evaluated using NMR spectroscopy, electrochemical techniques, and surface analysis. The results showed that PTC exhibited good electrochemical resistance and corrosion stability, forming a reliable protective layer. Theoretical calculations and experimental observations confirmed that PTC formed strong covalent bonds with the metal surface and provided excellent corrosion inhibition through self-assembly.

Influence of scanning speed and defocus distance on laser welded PA6GF30/SUS444 dissimilar lap joints

Zhongliang Xue et al.

Summary: The influence of scanning speed and defocus distance on the lap joint of polyamide 6 reinforced with glass fiber and SUS444 ferritic stainless steel was investigated. The results showed that the joint interface consisted of a melted zone and a glass transition zone. The tensile-shear force decreased with an increase in scanning speed and increased with an increase in defocus distance. Mechanical bonding and a new chemical bonding were observed at the joint interface.

Experimental and computational chemical studies on the corrosion inhibition of new pyrimidinone derivatives for copper in nitric acid

A. S. Fouda et al.

Summary: The inhibition of copper corrosion by pyrimidinone derivatives (MA-975 and MA-978C) in nitric acid was studied using weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The results showed that the efficiency of inhibition increased with the concentration of inhibitor and temperature. The compounds acted as mixed-type inhibitors, forming a protective thin film on the copper surface and significantly reducing corrosion.

Quantum chemical and molecular dynamic simulation studies for the identification of the extracted cinnamon essential oil constituent responsible for copper corrosion inhibition in acidified 3.0 wt% NaCl medium

K. Dahmani et al.

Summary: The study showed that extracted cinnamon essential oil has a significant impact on the copper corrosion resistance in acidic sodium chloride medium, acting as a good cathodic inhibitor. Increasing CiO concentration was found to enhance the inhibition efficiency, with P8 identified as the main component responsible for the corrosion inhibition. Furthermore, molecular dynamics simulations indicated strong adsorption of P8 on the oxide copper surface, suggesting its key role in the protective performance of the extracted CiO.

Effective anticorrosive performance of benzo-imidazo-pyrimidine-g-graphene oxide composite coating for copper in natural and artificial sea water

Shubhra Pareek et al.

Summary: The graphene composite coating grafted with 4-amino-3-(phenyldiazenyl) benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2a]pyrimidin-2(1H)-one (4-AIP-g-GO) showed significantly enhanced inhibition efficiency in both artificial sea water and natural sea water after coating on copper surfaces. The innovative application of 4-AIP-g-GO composite coating as an anticorrosive coating was attributed to its ability to inhibit charge transfer and hydrophobicity at the metal interface under aggressive saline conditions. The adsorption and thermal stability of the coating material were confirmed through various analytical techniques, providing insights for designing anti-corrosion coatings for industrial applications in the future.
