Nanoconfinement of tetraphenylethylene in zeolitic metal-organic framework for turn-on mechanofluorochromic stress sensing

Yang Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated the construction of a composite system with turn-on mechanofluorochromism by incorporating aggregation-induced emission (AIE) materials within metal-organic framework (MOF) single crystals. The unique fluorochromism mainly originated from the enhanced nanoconfinement effect exerted by the MOF host on the AIE guest under pressure. This innovative design strategy offers new possibilities for the fabrication of efficient mechanofluorochromic materials.
