Outstanding Fill Factor in Inverted Organic Solar Cells with SnO2 by Atomic Layer Deposition

Lorenzo Di Mario et al.

Summary: Transport layers play a crucial role in thin-film solar cells, impacting both efficiency and stability. In this study, highly efficient organic solar cells were achieved using ALD-deposited SnO2 as the electron transport layer. The ALD-SnO2-based devices outperformed those with solution-casted SnO2 nanoparticles and sol-gel ZnO, exhibiting higher efficiency and stability. This improvement is attributed to reduced charge carrier recombination at the ALD-SnO2/active layer interface.

An n-n Heterojunction Configuration for Efficient Electron Transport in Organic Photovoltaic Devices

Yaohui Li et al.

Summary: Selective electron transport and extraction are crucial for photovoltaic devices. This study presents an electron transport layer (ETL) configuration composed of a solution-processed n-n organic heterojunction to enhance electron transport and boost power conversion efficiency (PCE) in organic photovoltaics (OPV). The n-n heterojunction consists of a narrow-band n-type conjugated polymer layer (PNDIT-F3N) and a wide-band n-type conjugated molecule layer (Phen-NaDPO). The performance improvement in OPVs with different active layers is attributed to selective carrier transport properties, reduced recombination, and good film-forming quality of the ETL configuration.
