TMS-EEG signatures of facilitated cognitive reappraisal in emotion regulation by left ventrolateral prefrontal cortex stimulation

Wenjie Li et al.

Summary: The left ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (VLPFC) plays a crucial role in the down-regulation of negative affect through cognitive reappraisal. The current study used single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (spTMS) and electroencephalogram (EEG) to investigate the contribution of left VLPFC in cognitive reappraisal. The results showed that stimulation of left VLPFC enhanced the neural responses and behavioral response during cognitive reappraisal.

Can a single session of noninvasive brain stimulation applied over the prefrontal cortex prevent stress-induced cortisol release?

Philippe Vignaud et al.

Summary: This article systematically reviews previous studies on the effect of non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) on stress-induced cortisol release. Results suggest that stimulating the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex may be the most efficient method for reducing cortisol release in acute stress situations.

Atypical functional connectivity during rest and task-related dynamic alteration in young children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: An analysis using the phase-locking value

I-Chun Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the EEG functional connectivity profiles of young children with ADHD and TD during rest and tasks. The results showed differences in PLV values between the ADHD and TD groups in different frequency bands. Additionally, PLV values were negatively correlated with the Disruptive Behavior Disorder Rating Scale.

Maladaptive emotion regulation traits predict altered corticolimbic recovery from psychosocial stress

Ryan J. Murray et al.

Summary: This study provides evidence that maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation traits, like rumination, are associated with altered neural recovery processes during stress. Specifically, maladaptive cER is positively correlated with activity in certain corticolimbic regions during positive feedback recovery. Therefore, positive feedback may pose a potential threat to individuals with poor stress regulation abilities.
