Process intensification of dry reforming of methane by structured catalytic wall-plate microreactor

Anthony Basuni Hamzah et al.

Summary: This study aims to process-intensify Dry reforming of methane (DRM) by structuring CWPMR, which creates void spaces and micro-baffles in the packed layer and blow-through channel. The proposed micro-structure enhances convective heat and mass transfer, resulting in improved reaction efficiency. Particle-resolved CFD simulations confirm the beneficial effects of the microstructure on flow distribution in CWPMR, while reaction experiments demonstrate that the micro-structured CWPMR significantly outperforms the conventional reactor in reducing carbon deposition.

A short review on nickel-based catalysts in dry reforming of methane: Influences of oxygen defects on anti-coking property

Liqing Wu et al.

Summary: This review discusses the application of perovskites, transition metal oxides, rare earth metal oxides, and mixed oxide materials in DRM based on the effects of oxygen defects in nickel-based catalysts. It elucidates the mechanism of oxygen defects promoting the movement of oxygen species and producing more surface oxygen to effectively reduce carbon deposition in DRM.

Dry reforming of methane for syngas production: A review and assessment of catalyst development and efficacy

Apoorva M. Ranjekar et al.

Summary: Dry reforming of methane (DRM) involves catalytic reaction of CO2 and CH4 to produce syngas, but has not been implemented on industrial level yet. Most research has been based on nickel catalysts, but many new varieties like noble metals, structured silica-foams, zeolites have been investigated for DRM.
