Summary: Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) is a subtype of acute myocardial infarction that affects females disproportionately and has a worse prognosis. It has a broad differential diagnosis including both ischemic and non-ischemic mechanisms. Therefore, multimodality imaging is necessary to determine the underlying etiology and guide treatment.

Summary: The SMINC-2 study aimed to determine if over 70% of MINOCA patients investigated early with CMR could receive a diagnosis entirely by imaging. The results showed that 77% of patients in SMINC-2 received a diagnosis with CMR, which was a significant improvement compared to the previous study (SMINC-1), supporting the use of early CMR imaging as a diagnostic tool for MINOCA patients.

The Midwest ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Consortium: Design and Rationale

Summary: The development of regional STEMI care systems over the past 20 years has led to progress in achieving timely coronary reperfusion and improved clinical outcomes, but there is still room for improvement. The Midwest STEMI Consortium was established as a collaboration of 4 large regional STEMI care systems to provide a comprehensive, multicenter, and prospective STEMI registry without exclusionary criteria. This collaboration offers a unique platform for conducting clinical research studies to optimize STEMI care, particularly for high-risk STEMI subsets like CA and/or CS.
