Adolescent fertility and high school completion in Chile: Exploring gender differences

Viviana Salinas et al.

Summary: This study estimates the effect of adolescent fertility on high school completion in Chile, and finds that the negative impact is larger for girls than boys. Using propensity score weighting and regression adjustment, the study considers selectivity issues related to socioeconomic background and prior academic achievement. The results indicate that teenage girls who experience adolescent fertility are less likely to complete high school compared to boys, and they also have higher probabilities of delayed graduation or dropping out of school.
