Immediate Extubation in the Operating Room Following Pediatric Liver Transplantation: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and efficiency of immediate extubation in the operating room following pediatric liver transplantation. The results showed that immediate extubation group had a higher rate of extubation in the operating room and was equally safe, while the delayed extubation group required more blood products, longer anesthesia time, and longer hospital stay.

This article provides a historical perspective on early extubation for liver transplant patients and practical advice on selecting patients for non-traditional recovery settings.
